UJ1102 German WW2 U-Boot-Jäger

UJ 1102 was a German submarine chaser (U-Boot-Jäger, abbreviated UJ) of the Kriegsmarine during the Second World War. The vessel was originally built as a civilian fishing trawler before being converted for naval service. It lies near Hel Peninsula in the Gdansk Bay, on 76 meters depth. The wreck lies on port side. It’s broken behind the superstructure, probably as a result of soviet bombing that sank it on 11.04.1945. The model was created from over 14 000 photos taken during single, 3+ hour dive.

History Original vessel: Ostpreussen-class fishing trawler. Year built: 1936. Shipyard: Seebeck Werft, Wesermünde (today part of Bremerhaven), Germany. On 25 September 1939, the trawler was requisitioned by the Kriegsmarine, converted into a submarine chaser, and commissioned as UJ 112. During a fleet-wide renumbering on 1 October 1941, the vessel was redesignated UJ 1102.
